Administrative - Comments

ALL DONE NOW!  :)  Disqus is live on the blog.  I've enabled Guest commenting, which I think will function the same as anonymous commenting.  Thanks for all your yays of encouragement.  The actual move to from blogger comments to Disqus was basically a widget!

Please do let me know if you encounter any weird issues.  I hope not and I hope it's a nice improvement in functionality.  Also, you can edit comments!

Hi!  How ya doin'?

I'm doing this post to duly let you know that there be changes:

One thing I will be changing up on the blog is comments!  I don't know about you, but at the point that Blogger makes it hard for the blog owner to comment in her own post, it is time to do something.  Sometimes Blogger does a glitchy thing where it EATS COMMENTS.  Where it goes, nobody knows.

Within the next week or so, I will be replacing Blogger comments with Disqus.  I know, having a whole 'nother logon is a pain, but I hope since I am such a late adopter of Disqus, many of you will already have logins set up to comment on your other favorite blogs.

I believe there is anonymous commenting through Disqus and I'd love you to still come and chat with me!  I also don't really moderate comments.  I only make comments go into moderation for really old posts and also your x-rated comments.  Yup, and for those, I squirrel away for my secret happy place.

I hope our normal active and funny commenting experience on this blog will remain the same!  Don't forget to come and chat with me, ok?  *sits in metal folding chair*  *waits to be asked to dance*

  1. I may need to switch to Disqus at some point too - because Blogger is really hungry for those comments sometimes. Anyway, let me know how the whole experience goes! I dread most of those html/ admin type changes.

  2. Disqus is awesome! Yay for the change :-)

  3. It seems that comments get eaten when there are other people trying to comment and hit "publish" at the same time. It happens to be both when I reply to comments on my blog and when I leave one elsewhere.
I think Disqus is great (and I used to have the old version) but it does not correspond to the blog custom designs like it used to (which is the only reason I'm still using the old blogger comment system). Most of us already are on Disqus, so I welcome the announcement.

    Shall we dance? ;D

  4. Yay! I hate it when blogger eats my comments and Disqus usually behaves better on my phone. The reply notifications and comment back features are super helpful too. :)

  5. I'll come and chat with you no matter what!

  6. HURRAY! I love Disqus. Also because it helps promote conversations, I think!

  7. Ha--as ever, you're so funny! Sounds like a switch from Blogger is in order. (I think comments of mine have disappeared--perhaps for the best, but still!) I haven't been able to figure out how to use Disqus satisfactorily, so I typically don't comment on blogs using Disqus. All this to say, if you don't hear from me after the switch, don't assume I'm not following your blog. I'll still be reading it with pleasure and chuckling away at your wonderfully silly humor! Can't wait. :)

  10. SoSuSam, I hope Disqus will end up working ok for you. I will miss your comments terribly if I don't see you but I hope you will email me! :D We can always chat, away from all these jealous prying eyes.

  13. Ah poo. I did think of you and all the other anon commenters. I've enabled Guest commenting and continuing zero moderation, so I hope you will continue to come & write!

Yay! I've been thinking the same thing. Glad it wasn't complicated.

  22. Let 'so try this. Too complicated. Have to leave my email address. Only for you.

  23. Oh this is great, thank you! Without exaggeration, Blogger eats up about half of the stuff I write when I try to post. Most of the time I am too frustrated to write it all again... So yay!

By the way, did the Guest option not show up?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I figure it's been well tested by so many others of our fellow bloggers so there was not much risk of utter failure. :D
    So far, so good!

  26. :)) Oh yay! I'm so glad it is okay with you Cat. I was worried people would be icky about it. As a reader, I didn't initially like disqus, but boy, did blogger comments really suck or what?

  27. Yay congrats!
Now I can comment from each computer, before it was rather a challenge.

  28. Belly! I made a Disqus account to shed my cloak of anonymity. Now, you'll have a face attached to my name. Don't worry, I am not actually Samuel Johnson. I just have a resting face akin to that of Johnson's in this particular portrait. } :-\

  29. Yaaaayyyye!!!! I can comment again!!!! But mebbe that's a bad thing. :P

  30. Yes, it showed up. But I still had to enter a name, my email address too, then check the box for a guess.
So cumbersome. I don't sign in as the others. No likeeee. I like the old way.

  31. Josie, I may have pictured you in many different ways, but this look of Mr. Johnson is not what I pictured you as. I dunno, I pictured with longer and less curly hair. >:)

  32. Gah! Blogger comments was messing with you, too!?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes I just came back yesterday. Having a delicious jet lag for dinner tonight ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. :( Still, I am very grateful and happy to did the disqus switch. I'm always a slow adopter to changes, but the bugginess of the older blogger comment box just made it important to change. THANK YOU! <3

  35. Sara, jet lag is extra delicious with a side of greasy french fries. :) Welcome back home! I hope your trip was amazing!
