Makeup Addict Tag

Someone finally (Monika from Rocaille Writes) recognized me for the true Makeup Addict that I am with this tag.  Sorry this took so long, Monika.  (Read Monika's tag post here).  It literally took me from the time of the tag in November until now to do some cleaning up and purging.  I am a huge pig.  <---Secret is out!  Not only am I a makeup addict, I am also a pig!

On to this tag! *proud oink*

1. Which product do you still keep buying more of despite having plenty in your collection?
Well, I wouldn't be a true addict since I couldn't just stop buying anything, but I do have a special fondness for eye shadow palettes.

My precious... gollumgollum.
My rehydrated preciousseseses.  gollumgollum.
Wait, there's more.
 And then maybe more.
And other more unpictured more.  gollumgollum.

2. What's the one product you can't live without?
*hissy fit*

This is a terrible question to ask a makeup addict.  If zoning in on one product were conceivable, maybe I wouldn't have such a collection to begin with!  *drools*  *rolls around floor picking up dust bunnies*

I think maybe oil cleansing.  This whole cleaning the skin well thing is pretty revolutionary to me.

3. Favorite makeup brand?
I think this whole blog is a testament to my love for certain brands.  I have some major weaknesses for a few of them, but above all, probably SUQQU.  I identify with the brand message and I strongly suspect I am a member of their target demographic in terms of age, style preference and etc.

4. How big is your makeup collection?
Big.   Big for a sane person big.

5. And how do you store it?
Here is my vanity / makeup war-room set up, which is heavy on the IKEA and MUJI.

6. How many items of makeup have you got in your handbag at the moment?
Once I counted 12 lipsticks in an Instagram post, but I think I cleaned out my purse recently.  I always carry a makeup bag in my bag.  I have eleven in my bag today:
  • blotting paper
  • mirror
  • two lip brushes
  • pressed powder
  • face brush
  • three lipsticks
  • lip balm
  • perfume
7. If you could raid another blogger's stash, who would it be?
There are some EPIC collections out there, but I would love to roll around in Sonia's (Sweet Makeup Temptations) stash.  All the makeup things PLUS one of the most enviable brush collections in the world.  She won't be able to kick me out of her makeup room.  >:)

Wait.

Long pause.

I need time to recover from my daydreaming.

8. How long does your usual makeup routine take and how many products do you use?
I would easily take an hour if I could and had the time in the morning.  I love the indulgent experience of my makeup routine.  Generally 30 minutes or so.  I literally can NOT do a 5 minute face.  Can't.

Not including skincare (of which there are many steps) this is my normal routine:
  • foundation
  • concealer
  • powder
  • brow product (maybe 2, usually one)
  • eye shadow primer
  • eye shadows (# varies, probably is some quad)
  • eye liner
  • eye lash curler
  • mascara
  • blush
  • lipstick
  • several brushes
  • spritz perfume
I might add a finishing powder like Guerlain ballz, or a highlighter.  Maybe every so often I would put on bronzer.

9. Have you ever bought makeup knowing you wouldn't use it?
Never!  Everything must get used.  Eventually a pretty embossing or overlay is worn away.  I have a lot but everything must get used.  And for me, the biggest enjoyment is the using, not the having.  Although, the having is pretty nice, too.

10. Tag a few other makeup addicts to do this tag!
If you have a blog and would like to do this tag, let me know so I can link you in this post!  I would love to see Joyce from Bronzer Bunny, Auxiliary Beauty and Helene from Icaria's to do this tag!

    1. :) I think the 12-step program entails:
      1) Delete Paypal account
      2) Disable AMEX
      3) Disable Visa
      4) Disable walking to Sephora
      5) etc etc

  2. Hooray, thanks for the tag! I confess I was hoping to get tagged for this one eventually. :D Your palette collection is astounding! All those Suqqu pans lined up together...

  4. Ooh, looking at all the pretties in your dressing room makes me feel kind of perverted, possibly because I keep drooling.

    1. Fact is, I have indecent thoughts about other people's stash so it doesn't seem all that wrong to me. :)

  5. I also use gollum references to makeup way too much haha! Beauty Bloggers definitely have some gollum qualities to them! I was tagged to do this as well, but like most posts I plan on, it hasn't happened yet! Also I agree, what's the point in buying makeup if you don't have the intentions of using it? Even my electric palette from UD (a rather impractical purchase) has been put to use!

    1. :) That Gollum reference does seem so apt for us makeup lovers, eh? High props for using the electric palette! All the impractical & too pretty-to-use items must be used!

  7. Gollum, gollum!! Watch out, me and the Fellowship of the Ring will come and raid your Suqqu stash :-D I was hoping to get a glimpse of your brushes collection, maybe they are stashed somewhere nice and secure (unlike mine gathering dust at the back of the cabinet).

    1. NOOOOOO! MY PRECIOUSSSSS! I have them in two of my drawers. I have the face ones in one and all the eye ones in another. :) They were originally in cups, but I thought it would be better to keep them away from dust & light.

    2. So, so true!! Half of the time, most of my brushes are gathering dust, and they are almost used daily. Will heed this advice..

    1. Fun tag to get a glimpse of everyone's stash! Rae, if you haven't, you should do this, too!

    2. I'm not so sure if I should. Because I'm still in denial with this beauty 'addiction'. I'm not ready to admit it yet, haha! What I would own up to is my addiction to foundation and sunscreen. :D

  9. Woooo, thanks for letting us ogle your stash, Belly!!! I'm kinda jealous of that IKEA storage, my IKEA vanity fits so much less :/ Wait, maybe that's a good thing, lol? Love your eyeshadow palette collection and I'm very very envious of all your Suqqu. Btw, isn't that zebra on top of your Muji too cute for words?!

    1. Thanks for the fun tag, Monika! When I lived in the city, I didn't have room for such a big makeup set up. I think I did with a small modular organizer that was a fraction of my current set up!

I LOVE my Zebra! It's from a friend. Such a happy cutie. Also next to it is a Totoro.

    1. I have many palettes that it's hard to tell what is what. I like these Z's particularly because the clear window allows me to easily tell what's in them and also encourages me to use them. But I totally get a lot of people wouldn't want to depot. :)

  11. I love looking at other people's stash. *drools* And depotting is evil. Once I start, I couldn't stop! And I'd kill all my makeup. LOL

  12. Awesome tag post! Always love seeing your depotted goodies, and yay to THREE revivals! I'm eying a Muji rolly case that supposedly for A3 sized documents, but pssh, we all know its real purpose is for makeupz!

    1. Noodlies! Yay to creamy THREE creams! :) I'm so relieved. I think everything at MUJI can be used for makeup. :D Really, I think my brain has warped sufficiently to make me think about everything in relation to makeup!

  13. My answer for #1 would probably be lipsticks... I once told a friend I could use a different lipstick shade during a month, but it was worst when I tried using a different red lipstick during a month... and last time someone saw my lipsticks, I got told it looked like a car collection -lol, and many were hidden in boxes.
Anyway, you're tag is just going into very turbulent dangerous waters for many of your readers... especially those who know they have a big stash, but don't want to admit how bit it is :P

    1. Lipsticks are reasonable collectibles! I think lipstick is the category I've seen most for answer to question #1. I have lots of that, too! :)

  14. Lol, gollumgollums. I love that you have that one thing. I'm flighty so my lipstick phase is going to pass. Hoping I don't hit the stupid nail polish phase again.

I hate rushing to do the face too and could easily take an hour just to slowly make sure the foundation is applied properly. Often too lazy to go more than 5 steps though!

    1. I saw your blush phase is waning, too! What the heck, Liz! Why you go turning my world upside down, Liz?!

I also take a long time because I'm listing to the radio, staring off into space, drinking coffee. :) Also yes, I take a long time blending/applying foundation in the morning.

I haven't done this tag yet, because question 3 has me torn :P Need to get my butt in gear, and do it before 2015 is over.

    1. Bwahahaha! It's nice having the space for a proper vanity! I feel like I can always expand with extra storage (and more acquisition), but as we know, that is a quick path to hell. >:)
#3 IS hard, but I was thinking about in addition to the # of items I own from a specific brand, how often do I reach for a specific brand's product and for that Suqqu was the clear winner.

  17. Hahaha this was so much fun to read. Especially after you write everything must be used and show the Chanel blush
    :-)))))
I love your eye shadow collection, I can totally feel you!

  18. Awyissssssss!!! Loved loved loved this post, I wanna jump into those pics and dive head first into your drawers... Gently. Ahem.

My gollumgollum... definitely the same as yours. Eyeshadow palettes really make me lose my shit, pardon my french. I don't know what it is about them but I really can't stop! D: There have been times (er, quite far in the past I guess) when I only owned one blush, one bronzer, one face powder... and I'm all smug thinking "I ain't no junkie, I got this" ... until I see my eyeshadow stash and realize I will always be hopeless. Oh well! *smothers face with all den shiny*. Lately I seem to be doing it with lipstick too...

Oh your vanity looks so nice and organized! My makeup storage seems to be working all right (mostly muji), but I am having a major brush storage problem and so little space to solve it. How do you store your fluffies Belly?

  19. Hahahaa... i had so much laughs readin this!! Gollumgollum!! And omg, how do people get their face done in 5minutes?? I can't do 10 either.... 30 is what i'm averaging, and that's not even with highlighter or bronzer.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ahhhh dies from envy!! Such a great collection of eyeshadow :3 I CAN do a 5-minute face but it usually puts me in a bad mood, lol.
