Chanel Jardin de Chanel - Camelia Rose Blush

Let's pretend I didn't declare any kind of silliness about buying nuthin' because THAT is just ridiculosity.  Eh?  Eh?

You know when you just have one of those weeks when you are sick and tired and tired and sick?  After work I flounced into the Chanel boutique on East 57th Street to see if the Spring 2015 collection was out and yes, yes it was.
I came out with a little black shopping bag, tied with a white grosgrain ribbon and adorned with the white CHANEL camellia flower.  A little retail therapy can feel nice.

I had my eyes set on this beauty.  It doesn't even matter that we are only just approaching winter.  What a beauty.
It is heavily rose scented, which may or may not bother folks.  I loved it, the whole scented and intricately embossed floral pan.

Quick swatch here.  I have Rose Ecrin on the left and Camelia Rose on the right.
It is a very pretty pink.  While is it not exactly the cool lavender tinted pink of the promotional images, it is certainly cooler than the warmer Rose Ecrin.  There are some sparse shimmer visible in the pan, but it applies satin on my skin.  It is very soft and only moderately pigmented.

It killed me a little bit to swatch this thing!  It is very tiny, smaller than a regular US Joues Contraste and even smaller than the baked version.  There is that.

Retail therapy lately, too?

And thank you all so much for abundantly shopping my blog sale!  There are a few more items left (all lovely things) and I'm sure they would be so happy to live in your vanity!

  3. Oh I think I need dis... I often turn warm pink blushes a shade of cheeto orange - a special talent, I know. Do you think this one is cool enough for a very warm toned neko? And I demand a FOTD!

    1. Hmmm, how you turn it orange, Neko? O___- sometimes this happens when my brushes are dirty. Then everything turns orange. But in this case it seems to stay true to pan on me. :) In any case, you won't know until you try it on, right? RIGHT?

    2. I can turn warm pink lipsticks orange-y, too :( Something about my skin tone, not dirty brushes. But yes... there is only ONE WAY to find out if Camelia is for me! *Ubers to 57th and 5th*

  6. Gorgeous! When I had a flower embossed compact, I used to just swipe from the same corner and try to keep the pattern intact in the middle. :)

    1. Oh Liz, I just went whole hog with the swatching... but it seems to stay well intact. I also swirled the brush all over the pan this morning too. I am an ANIMAL!

    2. Screw anyone who says that retail therapy doesn't work. SOMETIMES IT JUST WORKS. I don't know how you found the courage to swatch such a beautiful blush!

    3. Sorry I replied to someone else instead of to the post itself. I can't use the internet, apparently.

Ab, yes one can not underestimate the simple pleasure of buying a pretty trinket. :)

  8. I know for a fact that retail therapy works. When I'm upset - I go shopping! Your pictures of Camelia Rose are beautiful. I got mine today and have already ordered a backup. I don't know how you found the courage to touch it either! I certainly don't know how I will, lol.

    1. Already a back up? hehehe! The applied color is very nice. Buying a second one to admire while you manhandle the first one is a good idea. :)

  9. Oh you got ballz swatching that little pot of pretty! Might just cheat it for awhile when it launches here and pass the counter regularly and use the store display one ;)

  12. The product is sooo beautiful! I would love if the color was a bit more pigmented but oh my, rose scented? I'd love that!

    1. Using a good brush for picking up less pigmented blush (like my Koyudo Canadian Squirrel) deposits plenty of color I found. Problem is, I can already see my flowers losing a tiny bit of the sharp contours of the embossing :'((

  13. That is downright gorgeous, who could possibly resist it?? I was a big Chanel fan in my 20s but then it dropped off my radar; this pretty little thing, along with the Tisse Rivoli eye shadow quad, now haunts my wish list!

    1. It is such a beautiful and feminine thing of luxury, I found it possible to resist. Literally it's like my brain shut off and I had to run to the counter.

  14. Belly,

I hope your back is feeling better! Haven't you heard? Retail therapy works in tandem with medication to achieve a more holistic recovery ;)

Crazy timezone differences and jet lag drove me to purchase Suqqu Holiday A, Chanel eyeliner in Or Blanc, and a Heeley EDP. But wait. There is more! I, like you, have also succumbed to what my BF dubbed as the salami blush. Ruthless twirling action on my end has already dulled the center of a smaller camellia. EEP!

    1. Josie, I particularly can endorse your definition of holistic medicine! :) my back is ok, but I have a round of some doctor visits coming up. That plus maybe SUQQU Spring will make it all better.

salami!? Why does he call it that? Do the flowers look like the cross section of a delicious sausage?

    1. I think the design is the special part of this blush. The color is plenty pretty, but nothing unique or amazing, but I am enjoying using it.

I'm not very knowledgeable about color/seasonal analysis, so I'm not sure!
