SUQQU Eyeliner Creamy in EX-03 Ruby Navy

Disclosure: This post contains product provided by the brand/PR.
SUQQU was kind to offer several items from the new releases from AW 2014.  Today I will be featuring the new limited edition Eyeliner Creamy in EX-03 Ruby Navy, but will be showcasing one of the trios as well as the new limited edition Creamy Glow Moist over the next few days.

And look, how nice of the sun to cooperate for a scant few moments to allow for some good photo taking.

These potted eyeliners come with a small brush included, which is great because my very old Bobbi Brown Ultrafine Eyeliner brush is looking frayed and chewed up for any good use.
By placing the cap on the bottom of the brush extends the brush head into a miniature, but perfectly usable eyeliner brush with a fine tip.
I prefer pencil eyeliners on most days, but some while back, I was very much a Bobbi Brown and Shu Uemura addict for gel liners.  I was keen on trying out the SUQQU version in the limited edition color offering.

As I mentioned from the press release, this AW collection is inspired by the luminous and glowing tones of jewelry.  EX-03 Ruby Navy is a deep rich navy blue that is full of very fine multi colored shimmer.
The liner is very soft, much softer in texture than my Shu Uemura and Bobbi Brown liners and easy to pick up product with a brush.  While a cream product certainly, it has a certain powder feel when applied while retaining the precision of a cream liner.  It feels smooth and not at all gritty despite the shimmer and lovely being applied.
While it can be layered on into the full intensity of pigmentation you see in the swatch below, the initial swipe of the brush on the skin is soft.  I can create both the precise lined look that a good gel liner can achieve or apply softly and blend quickly to achieve a softer look.
It sets quickly and becomes cemented on to my skin.  I was crazy surprised that a normal swabbing of my Bioderma barely dented the swipe while a Bobbi Brown swatch I had originally applied next to it easily wiped off.  I had to really rub and rub hard after a few seconds of a cotton pad soaked in the micellar water applied over the line.  Ack!  Look how I've rubbed my skin red to finally clean the swatch off my arm.
Wear time is excellent remaining precise and sharp!  I've only applied over my normal Nars Pro Prime, and with only minimal fading in my inner corner, the line stayed completely intact.  It did clean off well with cleansing oil.

I will be showing the new liner in a few looks in upcoming posts, along with posts on the lipstick and the new trio.  I hope the sun feels cooperative and allow me to take some pictures while I get my indoor lighting situation figured out.
Utterly gorgeous color and could definitely get me into potted eyeliners again.

SUQQU is available at Fenwick London Bond Street and Selfridges London, Birmingham and Manchester in the UK.  Outside of the UK, you can order by reaching the counters directly or online through the Selfridges website (here).  For pieces of the AW collection, I recommend calling the counters directly as inventory on line is notoriously spotty.  You can read my post on where to buy SUQQU here for telephone numbers.  International shipping prices are very expensive.

What are some of your favorite products and colors for eyeliners?

  1. Omg, this shade is just freaking stunning!!! I used to have a navy shade like this from kate kanebo but they stopped selling this color of gel eyeliner! I love the shimmery in this! Japanese make the best waterproof gel eyeliners!

    1. I heard the Kate as well as the Japan version of the Maybelline ones are excellent and totally apocalypse proof. It's nice to see the luxury version also perform so beautifully and this color is to die for!

    1. Lot of these items stick around longer than a nanosecond like the LE quads, so I bet once your wallet recovers, you might be able to score this as well as other things. ;)

    1. I hope these shimmers don't bother your eyes, Selphia. I seem to be developing some small irritations to shimmer these days. :(( But happily, these fine shimmers seems to adhere well to the skin and not cause me any issues so far.

    2. I hope I love wearing it and not sigh at beautiful swatches. It will probably land on my desk when I'm sick part 2 lol

  4. Will you look at the pretty glitter? Now that's a nice dark blue liner! My all time favorite is L'Oréal Infaillible in Dark Slate but I've been wearing black again recently and like Bobbi Brown in Caviar Ink although it's not as long lasting on me as L'Oréal. :)

    1. Hello darling, Helene! I heard the L'Oreal one is excellent as is the dark slate color for a beautiful grey. That Caviar BB is a classic one! I used up 2 pots of BB Espresso before.

  6. I recently noticed CDJapan and Imomoko have just started carrying Suqqu as well:

I had a good experience ordering Koyudo brushes through CDJapan, but I have not tried ordering from Imomoko yet.

    1. :) Hi Christine! I saw cdjapan when I was placing my red squirrel order a while ago. But yowzers! That markup I think is higher than ichibankao. D:
For small orders (onesies and twosies), ichibankao seems to be the fastest and the most reasonable despite their markup, imo.

  7. Love that colour and the wear sounds really good. I've been checking the Selfridges site since the launch but the collection has been a no show thus far, as much as I really rate Suqqu I do find the difficulty of getting hold of their seasonal collections frustrating, in this case I've just order myself some of the Chantecaille Fall instead in a sulk :)

    1. It is SO frustrating waiting for things that show up (never or for a brief moment) on that website! Is calling the counters an option for you?

That Chantecaille Fall trio is so beautiful! I have my eye on that as well. Such pretty colors and so wearable.

    2. I've given up doing mail orders from the majority of department stores as have had a lot of issues, such as them writing down my card details and then losing them. I'll keep my eye on the website, if its meant to be its meant to be :)

  8. Wow, sounds like a fantastic liner!! Ruby Navy sounds like an oxymoron but it does has the depth of a ruby, I think. And yes, I so agree that most Japanese cosmetics comes with superbly crafted brush (I mean, compared to the Wester counterparts) that is more than usable. And I believe you when you said the liner is tenacious, I think they really know how to make eye products that last. Great review, and looking forward for more SUQQU reviews from you!

    1. The dinky brush is very well made! I was really pleasantly surprised. But I see that since the product sets so well, I need to use oil to clean the bristles after each use which is kind of a pain (versus just micellar water or soap/water).
It is really brightening and so lovely on the lids and I am really so happy with how well this performs. :D

  9. whoaaaa pretty. like, WOW. I wasn't sure how the name "Ruby Navy" would translate into a colour, but this is simply stunning.

    1. Hi Danielle!
Definitely splurge and try something from the brand. If anything, it's a nice way to see what some of these Japanese textures are like. :) xoxo
