It's Another Year, You Say?

I was thinking about closing out 2013 with a blog post listing all the new goodies I loved during the year, but in true Belly fashion, those things are behind me and I am already salivating profusely about the new and the next.  How I balance this with a requirement for thoughtfulness (in spending and selection) will be very difficult indeed.

Are you in the mood for a rambling post?

On makeupalley, we were posting photos of ourselves from the 90's and the 00's to close out the year.  Here I share with you a picture circa 1993 or so.  I was going to some formal and dressed up.  In going through the pictures from that period, I seem to favor dark red lipsticks and nothing else.  (or is this the iconic brown of the 90's?  I can't tell from the poor quality picture)  Also seemed to really favor the tweezer.  I am SO VERY THANKFUL that my brows have grown back.
Then.  Where are my EYEBROWS?!
And here I am from yesterday.  Look, I'm so proud of my brows.
The very last day of 2013.  Going out in STYLE.
Today being New Years, we shall conclude the day with tteok guk, a Korean rice cake soup with is a traditional dish for the New Year.  That's on the stove now, but during the way, our family went out to Flushing, Queens and ate an obscene amount of dim sum.  Which seems to have a correlation to why I can't fit into that dress from college anymore.  Hmm *looks down at beer belly*

And here is my makeup of the day:
Wearing the Suqqu foundation I featured yesterday (here), THREE winter coffret duo on eyes with the gold liner from the coffret (here), THREE blush in Love Kick (here) and SURRATT Lipslique in Hevyn.

Here's to 2014.  Another Year, Another Beauty Blog.  Doing my weird thing.

Happy New Year to All!

  1. Soup! I love soup, esp if anything Korean is involved in it (or anything with Kimche??). Lovekick looks lovely paired with Hevyn, I may steal that combo of bright cheek-nude lips. And honestly, honestly.. now I'm into THREE thanks, err.. darn you! I was perusing their website, do you see they have that spa/dining/shopping spot at Aoyama -- as if I need another reason to fall in love with Japanese line. Happy New Year, Belly!

  3. Happy new year, Belly!!! You look gorgeous in that dress, and I'm happy your eyebrows grew out, too! Brows definitely have a trend, so don't beat yourself up :p Looks like you're having a great day with your family! I might know what that rice cake is. My grandmother is from Ningbo, China, and they have something that looks strangely similar!

    1. Happy New Year, Sunny! I think most of my friends were pratically brow-less then, too. We are slaves to trends. :)
Korea has all sorts of rice cake with lots of shapes and flavors but I love this particular one. So simple and filling. I didn't realize China had something similar looking, too! Chewy goodness for everyone!

  5. You look beautiful! I am celebrating by wearing no makeup at all, and by eating a lot of food :D

My resolution for the year is to wait for THREE swatches before giving Ichibankao all my money... Trying to continue my low buy! I know how hard thoughtfulness in purchasing is, but I'd like some, too.

  6. Happy new year! And yes, I think all of us went through that thin brows stage. I'm also trying to grow mine, but I have a feeling this is the best my brows could do. LOL! Still, much better than being browless :-P
Looking forward to more rambling and weird things! Normal is boring :-)

    1. Whaddaya mean "both" pictures? I posted 3 pictures of myself. You no like the curlers? *sniff*

I've heard Australia has amazing food scene. What is good there? I am very thankful for super food diversity in Queens. Amazing eating places!

    2. I think I totally missed the curler pic coz small touch screen :P What kind of curlers are they? Never seen such long ones lol

Australian food makes necks and waists disappear, that's how good it is... that or there is a lot of fat and sugar and foodies here don't exercise at all because they need to drive/public transport to get anywhere coz everything is so far away.

Melbourne and Sydney are quite famous for their food scenes but if you had a choice to travel to anywhere in the world for the food alone then it probably isn’t worth it because it costs too much to be completely honest. Although eating while seated next to an ocean view is kind of nice sometimes (just don’t try it in Brisbane coz polluted to hell river water). I would recommend coming to Australia for the beach, rainforest and whatever nature has to offer. There are some really nice places to visit and probably swing by New Zealand on the way back coz look http://svetlichok.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/14112013-christchirch-lake-tekapo.html

    3. Darn it. I should have gone to visit NZ & Australia when we were living in Asia. Traveling from this side of the globe makes the trip just so daunting! :(( I can use some food that would make my neck & waist disappear. That sounds really delicious.

    1. Jan! I shall cherish the brows although can tell some thinning that is not plucking related. I plan on babying them as long as I can.
