Rouge Bunny Rouge Swell Bliss XXX Lip Plump in Clover Royal Jelly

Can I say that the "XXX" in the product name strikes me as a tiny bit...odd?  Hey, this is a G-rated blog, but I associate XXX with pre-Giuliani Times Square.  I suspect Rouge Bunny Rouge was being a little bit tongue in cheek referring to their secret lip plumping formula as XXX and also giving a knowing wink to...uh... bodily swelling.

My well-considered thoughtfulness aside, here is the very demure looking tube, with the botanical motif scrolling across the bottle and topped by a glossy black top.

Lots of shimmery iridescence glows through.  There is a slim brush as an applicator and it picks up a rather big portion of product.  The applicator is not particularly precise, as the brush fibers are fairly soft.
Who doesn't want juicy and plump lips?  But I don't want it with any pain!  I don't care about no pain no gain!  I want beauty with no pain!  No pain!  (As an aside, I've put away all my stiletto heels and high heeled sandals for my daughters.  Pain + sexy feet?  No thank you.)

So what's all this lip swelling about?  Well, there is a slight pepperminty fragrance and an immediately subtle and cooling effect on my lips when I apply it.  It doesn't irritate my lips in anyway.  It's not an irritated lip that becomes a plumped up lip in this case.  It's the incredible hydrating formula that is full of lustre and plush finish that gives an incredible look.

See, it looks a little thickened, but doesn't feel gloopy or sticky.  It feels amazing on my lips and the color is beautiful.  This color is a lovely cool rosewood with a rich and glowing micro-colored shimmer.
This last picture shows off its incredible multi-colored shimmer.

Pretty, ain't it?  Tried any interesting lip plumping glosses from other brands?  Do they actually work?  Is there...PAIN?!

This post marks off another item on the Work List.

  1. I have actually only ever tried the MAC version- lovely minty, not much *swelling* involved. This RBR is such a pretty rose tho regardless of it's xxx prowess!

    1. I like my makeup a little X-rated! Mrrrreow! :) Sounds like the MAC may have some similarities. I like this one a lot and love how conditioned my lips feel afterwards!

  2. Nice! I got two of those, but haven't tried them yet... :O

I tried a lip plumper from Too Faced some years back. It made me cry and my lips looked like they had been attacked by bees. :(

  5. Hello! I've always wanted to try RBR glosses, I read a few reviews and they seem to be wonderful. Swelling gloss? Well, the ones that I tried are quite "painful" more tingly.. some smells overly cinnamony which I don't like. I think I can stand pepperminty gloss. Thanks for the review!

    1. Hi Claire! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! :) These seem more about hydration rather than irritation, so I really like this one. :)
